The Conservation in the Classroom teacher workshop is offered to K-12 educators in Jefferson Davis and Marion County. The workshop, scheduled for July 11-14, provides participants with the knowledge and resources to integrate environmental education into the classroom across all subject areas. During the three and a half days, hands-on activities and field trips are used to teach about soil, water, wildlife, recycling, agriculture, urban ecology and forestry. Experts from local, state and federal agencies will give presentations and provide resource materials.
The workshop will take place at The Community Room at Columbia. Participants earn 3.2 Continuing Education Units. There is a $25.00 refundable deposit to reserve your place for the workshop. The workshop is free and includes all course materials, meals and CEUs. 15 teachers from Jefferson Davis County and Marion County will each have 15 teachers selected for this workshop.
