Dr. A Mahadevaiah, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist/ENT specialist for his immense contributions in the field of otology and for providing mentorships to many physicians across the country. The workshop also saw discussions of many theoretical concepts and live demonstrations of surgeries to educate delegates.

Speaking at the ReVision 2020 workshop, Prof Dr Vijayendra Honnurappa, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist, Vijaya ENT Care Center said: “Revision surgeries are always complex and delicate and require far more experience than many of us have acquired after working on many cases. In many cases, normal anatomical landmarks are lost and details from previous surgeries may be inaccurate or missing. Through ReVision 2020, we have not only taught doctors how to deal with complications from revision surgery, but also what steps can be taken during primary surgery to prevent recurrences. This will ensure that medical resources are not wasted and at the same time people will not have to waste their monetary resources on multiple recurring treatments and surgeries to cure their condition.

Originally scheduled for March 2020, the workshop had to be postponed due to the COVID pandemic. “COVID-19 was a huge blow for us as we were forced to cancel this great event at the very last moment after all the arrangements had been made. We briefly discussed whether we should stick to the same theme this year or choose a completely new subject. But we all agree that this is a vital subject that cannot be ignored. We have also decided to keep the name ReVision 2020, even after 2 years, because we wanted to be resilient and finish what we started,” added Prof. Dr.VijayendraHonnurappa.

Speaking on ‘Temporal Bone-anza’, a live temporal bone dissection, Dr Vinay Vijayendra, Consultant, Vijaya ENT Care Center said, “The success of any good otologist can be attributed to his mastery of the anatomy of the temporal bone. The temporal bone, with all its twists and turns, presents a unique challenge for every budding otologist. The demonstration aimed to acquaint delegates, young doctors and postgraduate students with the intricacies of various ear surgeries, which will help them lay a solid foundation to become wonderful ear surgeons at the coming.

ReVision 2020 saw the participation of more than 800 participants comprising senior and junior ENT doctors, postgraduate students from all over the country.

Prof. Vijayendra and his team also released a high quality color endoscopic otodiagnostic atlas titled ‘Otology Demystified’ at the event. “The book contains an archive of over 10,000 images of all common and rare ear pathologies collected over the past decade, which will be a great asset for every ENT surgeon and guide them in their diagnosis,” said he added.
