The IUST organizes a capacity building workshop for college directors

AWANTIPORA: The Center for the Development of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIED) of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) held a one-day capacity building workshop on “Innovation and Technology” on Monday. entrepreneurship ”. The program was attended by directors and faculty members from various university colleges across the valley.

IUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Shakil A. Romshoo, who was the guest of honor on the occasion, called on universities and colleges to implement the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) approved by the Cabinet of Indian Union on July 29, 2020, in letter and spirit as it describes the vision of India’s new education system which has placed significant emphasis on capacity building and skills development, and stated : “It is our responsibility to implement NEP 2020 in collaboration with university colleges”.

He insisted that colleges introduce specific courses of at least 1 year or 6 months to train students in specific areas so that they can overcome unemployment problem as well as income generation. “We are always available to help these colleges in their quest to train students,” he said.

The Director of Colleges (Higher Education Jammu and Kashmir) Prof. Yasmeen Ashai congratulated the university for hosting this meaningful workshop in her speech. “I look forward to the support of the administration of IUST to help government university colleges to succeed in the mission of entrepreneurship and innovation, as the university has expertise in the centers of incubation and innovation that colleges can benefit from, ”she said.

She added that there were 14 colleges across J&K including Degree College Bemina which are already in this process of entrepreneurship development.

Nuclear physicist IIT Ropar and life member of the Indian Physics Association, Dr Pushpendra P. Singh, in his address through the virtual mode, highlighted the scope of technological intervention in the fields of agriculture , food, etc. which could create major avenues for entrepreneurship.

IUST Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. AH Moon highlighted the role of IUST in various fields regarding entrepreneurship and research and said, “IUST, under the guidance of Prof. Romshoo, focuses on research, innovation, skills development and entrepreneurship – “RISE” as these are our favorite areas for bringing about changes in the education system.
