Stageworld organizes a screenwriting workshop before the one-act play festival

The response for entries for the return of the Udumo High School One Act Play Competition has been excellent, a screenwriting workshop will be held on Saturday 25th June at The Barn, Mandela Bay Theater Complex.

The workshop presented by Marlene Pieterse, Principal and Founder of Stageworld Performing Arts School is free and open to all high school learners and educators. Topics covered will be writing for play and how to grab attention and tell a story with impact.

Among the many schools that have registered are Kwazakhele High School, Hoërskool Framesby, Unicollege and Ndyebo High School.

The Opera will host the competition from August 2-14, with three finalists competing in a final gala on Saturday August 14.

Schools will be vying for the trophy and cash prizes:

  • Winning game: R30,000 for the winning game
  • Winning scriptwriter: R6,000 for the winning scriptwriter
  • Best director: R5,000 for best director
  • Best actor and actress: R3,000 each
