The workshop is held simultaneously in the conference room of the CDF and at the polyvalent secondary school of Vieux Fort. The four-week program will give experienced lantern makers and animators from across the island the opportunity to

  • build capacity by expanding the scope of creative learning experiences, providing hands-on experience and expertise in the lantern-making process.
  • With the development of new skills and encouraging talents by allowing participants to work with new materials, merging cross-cultural expressions and exchanges, inspiring strategies, skills and ideas through the guidance of a lantern designer professional.
  • efficiently create lighting circuits and incorporate lighting into lanterns.
  • interpret themes/ideas in the construction and design of lanterns
  • reinforce the use of local, ecological and recycled materials in the design and construction of the lanterns.
  • Patriciapents should be creative and should express themselves in a fun and relaxed environment where all opinions and ideas are encouraged and welcomed by everyone.

Train the Trainers is supported by the Ministry of Culture (Taiwan) through the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Saint Lucia under the Spotlight on Taiwan Fund, the Lantern Association of Taipei and of the Ministry of Tourism, Investment and Creative Industries. , Culture and Information.

Saint Lucia celebrated the International Day for People of African Descent on Wednesday, August 31 with the official launch of the Saint Lucia Chapter of the African Diaspora Development Institute (ADDI). The celebration of the day also saw a panel discussion with the main presenter, Dr June Soomer, representative of Caricom at the United Nations Permanent Forum for People of African Descent, outlining the topic “Why the Permanent Forum is important to the Caribbean”.
