One Day Workshop on Legal Research – Education in India | Latest Education News | World Education News

Aligarh: A one-day online workshop on legal research was organized by the Law Society, Faculty of Law, AMU on February 19.

In his welcome note, Professor Md Ashraf (Dean and Chair of the Department of Law) emphasized that law students need to understand how legal research plays an important role throughout their law school career.

Maitreyi Mishra, Research Associate and Founding Member, PROJECT 39-A, NLU Delhi, emphasizing the role of interdisciplinary study and empirical research, emphasized the evolution of law and the origin of a legal issue. She also mentioned how good research is a combination of joint study and legal awareness. She also advised young minds not to operate in a vacuum rather than recognizing all the other respective fields that play a role in the subject of legal research.

Dr. Yashfeen Ali, Assistant Professor, Integral University, Lucknow, explained the basics of research, gave detailed explanations of research features and types, and simplified the topic with examples. She presented a roadmap for students to conduct adequate research and advised them to identify relevant issues and research gaps that may exist. She also listed the relevance of indexes and cautioned students about the quality of journals.

Ms. Tripti Bhushan, Academic Tutor and TRIP Fellow, OP Jindal Global University, described academic writing, while paying particular attention to the aspect of references and citations. She also explained how a college student will typically be required to write throughout their college career. She discussed the complexities of writing appropriate and detailed references and using available resources productively.

Rajat Shandilya, AMU Law Society Editor, co-host Taha Bin Tasmeen and Nadia Mallick, Co-Editors of the Law Society, moderated the proceedings and Atif Javaid (Secretary, Law Society) delivered a vote of thanks.
