Workshop course

Newark and Sherwood District Council Hosts Logistics Sector Workshop

A workshop was organized for businesses based in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire to learn more about the logistics industry and how they can benefit from the latest trends, research and technological changes.

The Newark Logistics Workshop was held Tuesday at Newark College and was free to attend.

It was organized by Newark and Sherwood District Council in partnership with Newark College, part of the Lincoln College Group, Lincoln University and Nottingham Trent University.

Jeremy Hague from Nottingham Trent University, John Latham from Lincoln University, Tom Marsden from Newark College Group, organizer Will Parkinson and Neil Cuttell from Newark and Sherwood District Council.

A study was carried out earlier this year by Nottingham-based FOCUS Consultants to understand the skills and training needs of logistics companies in the region. The results were presented during the workshop.

Feedback from the consultation will be used to inform the courses Nottingham Trent University and Lincoln University need to ensure people are trained to meet the needs of a new business cluster.

The Smart Innovation, Supply Chain and Logistics (SiScLog) Enterprise Zone will not only create a logistics center of excellence with regional and national reach, but will provide hundreds of jobs.
