Dubai: The Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently conducted a training workshop titled: “Monthly Closings on Accrual Basis” to increase the efficiency of employees of government entities in applying accrual accounting. exercise. The workshop, which was attended by employees and specialists from 39 federal departments and entities, also aimed to raise awareness of month-end closing on an accrual basis within the federal government. It also aimed to explain the mechanisms for applying accounting procedures and ways to implement accounting standards on the federal financial system. All of this helps to improve the accuracy and efficiency of monthly closings, as well as the government’s periodic financial statements and reports, which are available to the public for review.

HE Mariam Al Amiri, Undersecretary of the Financial Management Sector at the Ministry of Finance, reiterated the ministry’s willingness to continue organizing specialized training programs to elevate the capabilities of employees of federal government entities in the execution of the budget, monthly closings and bank settlements. This will help prepare more accurate periodic and annual financial reports.

HE Al Amiri said, “At the Ministry of Finance, we wish to continue to strengthen cooperation with the various federal ministries and entities in the country to help them better understand and apply accounting standards and procedures. This helps to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of financial planning within the Federal Government and helps strengthen the position of the UAE Government among the world’s leading governments by applying the best management methodologies and government accounting standards.

The training workshop included a detailed introductory explanation of the most important accounting methodologies and procedures to be followed by federal entities during monthly closes. It was also intended to clarify all updated financial reporting and the importance of operating accounting programs in the federal financial system. In addition, a workshop was held to review the updated list of monthly closes and correspondences that should be made by federal government departments and entities to ensure the accuracy of financial statements during the accounting period.

The Ministry of Finance conducts an annual training program aimed at building the capacity of employees of federal government entities in various areas of their financial work.
