Material Extrusion 3D Printing Design and Operations Workshop
Want to learn more about 3D printing?
This is a free course open to anyone aged 18 and over, for which you will receive a certificate upon successful completion. Participants must attend all 5 sessions to successfully complete the learning objectives.
This course will be delivered over 4 days, face to face, at Brunel University London in the Michael Sterling Building, room MCST 158. This training consists of five independent learning units covering the following topics:
1. Introducing 3D Printing Materials Extrusion (MEX) (April 21, 2022, 10am-2pm)
2. Introduction to Computer Aided Design (CAD) (April 22, 2022, 10am-2pm)
3. Design for Materials Extrusion (MEX) (April 28, 2022, 10am-2pm)
4. 3D printer operation and practical applications (April 29, 2022, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
5. “Do it Yourself” 3D printing project (April 29, 2022, 2:30-6 p.m.)
At the end of each learning unit, there will be a summative assessment of multiple-choice questions to assess your knowledge. An online questionnaire will also be distributed to obtain feedback on the training.
After this course, you will be able to:
Increase the level of knowledge on the processes of material extrusion (MEX)
Understand the potential and limitations of polymer materials and real applications
Develop design principles and 3D design for MEX
Use software to create 3D CAD models
Prepare files for printing process
Become familiar with the printing process, post-processing and basic troubleshooting of 3D printers
Requirements: To attend this course, participants must be 18 years of age or older and will need to bring their own internet-connected device (laptop).
Participants will be required to sign a Participant Consent Form to participate in the workshop in person. The deadline for entries is April 19, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. BST.
If you have any questions please email Dr Hsiang Hsiang Loh – [email protected]
