Live surgery workshop held at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala: The Tribune India

Patiala, December 4

A live surgery workshop was held at the Rajindra Government Hospital here, where surgeries were performed and presented to aspiring surgeons. The workshop was organized by Dr Ashwani Kumar, Professor and Head of Department of Surgery, and Dr DP Singh, Former Professor and Head of Rajindra Hospital. The workshop was presented virtually nationwide by the Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of India.

The primary surgeries performed were a 2-way laparoscopic cholecystectomy and a difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Laparoscopic 2-port cholecystectomy was an advanced and aesthetically better way to perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy in which only two incisions were made instead of four incisions in conventional surgery, Dr Ashwani said. He said, “Laparoscopic surgeries are quite common these days. Sometimes young surgeons perform these surgeries without adequate training, which can have fatal and disastrous consequences. Such live workshops are a great way for these surgeons to hone their skills as well as for established surgeons to share their experiences, tips and tricks with their colleagues. “- TNS
