Muscat: In a unique initiative, Eshraqa, the social development arm of Khimji Ramdas, organized a consultative knowledge-sharing workshop, in collaboration with the Taiseer platform, to help SMEs representing Oman at the Expo Dubai 2020 underway.
Entitled “Marketing, Advocacy and Market Growth”, Eshraqa’s first knowledge sharing workshop, was organized as part of Khimji Ramdas’ vision to propel Omani SMEs to the forefront through various progressive initiatives. It was held under Tasees, Eshraqa’s Entrepreneurship Academy, with the main objective of providing a platform for SMEs to assimilate the concepts of marketing and promotion and familiarize them with the procedures involved in the implementing these concepts while planning their marketing strategies.
10 SMEs, representing businesses in fishing, honey manufacturing, incense products, perfumery, technology, clothing as well as natural skin care products and cosmetics, benefited of this interactive hands-on workshop, which gave participating entrepreneurs an up-close and personal look at the different facets of growing the market through marketing and promotion strategies.
Highlighting the importance of the workshop for SMEs, Nailesh Khimji, Director of Khimji Ramdas, said, “Our main objective behind this vast program is to create new avenues to show our responsibility towards society and raise awareness in the SME sector. The timely and carefully planned workshop received an overwhelming response from participants. During the program, they were able to identify and constructively apply techniques for value proposition creation, segmentation, targeting and positioning of their product offerings with the support of the Eshraqa team. Participants, some of whom will be further aided by Tasees and Taiseer Platform, were delighted to have taken part in such a stimulating exercise, which challenged them to think about their products in a way they had never done before. .

To further enhance the participation of Omani SMEs in Expo 2020 Dubai, Eshraqa, in association with the Taiseer platform, will organize a new session on “Business Modeling”. This second knowledge sharing exercise will help entrepreneurs analyze, visualize and test the commercial viability of their business using proven business modeling tools.
With this series of knowledge sharing sessions and other support facilities offered, Khimji Ramdas aims to play a role in the growth of SMEs in Oman, helping them become active contributors to Oman’s Vision 2040.
