Introduction to Podcasting is a 2-day online workshop, which focuses on the skills required to create short radio packages or podcasts.
Podcasts and online audio are at the heart of the digital media business. With audiences flocking to the medium in record numbers and listening to radio on connected devices at an all-time high, there’s never been a better time to learn and create audio.
Participants will learn how to customize content for a specific audience, then save, edit and publish it online. They will learn skills in interviewing, writing and delivering scripts, as well as the use of music and sound effects. Participants will leave equipped with editorial and technical knowledge to support their work in creating audio packages and podcasts.
The workshop is organized by Journalism.co.uk , a website providing news and infomercials for journalists based in Brighton, UK. The training will focus on the latest tools and techniques with an emphasis on hands-on, hands-on learning.
The course is divided into two sessions:
- Introduction to podcasting
- Writing, delivering and recording scripts
- Conducting podcast interviews
- Use of music and sound effects
- Recording – including recording of remote interviews
- Editing and mixing – practical demonstration
- Broadcast your podcast and get it noticed
- Questions and answers
The workshop tutor is Jack Soper, a producer and consultant with over 20 years of experience. He works for the BBC and a range of commercial and private clients. His work has been recognized with wins at the New York Festival Radio Awards and the Sony Radio Academy Awards.
The cost of the workshop is £229.17 (plus VAT) for the two days and will take place in two online sessions from 10.30am to 1pm BST on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th June 2022. Start and end times may vary depending on the program.
