Smoke was showing on the approach Saturday morning as crews were called to a burning workshop in Colebrookdale Township.
The call was in the first block of Brickyard Lane and went out around 11:15 am.
The first volunteers to arrive at the scene said the fire was a 16-by-12-foot hangar with flames threatening a vehicle and two other buildings, according to emergency reports.
At 11:45 a.m., the on-scene fire chief reported that most of the fire had been extinguished and that there would be a major overhaul. The building was declared a loss.
Crews from Boyertown, Eastern Berks and Gilbertsville stations fought the blaze and worked to save surrounding structures, said G. Jeffrey Bealer, Boyertown Area Fire and Rescue Commissioner and Public Information Officer .
The blaze was under control within an hour of arrival, but a thorough overhaul was needed and crews were still on site after 1 p.m. to ensure the blaze was completely extinguished, Bealer added.
A state police fire marshal will investigate, he said.
More than 30 firefighters were on site and there were no injuries, Bealer said.
