Emirates News Agency – ADAA holds workshop with International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants

ABU DHABI, 15th July, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority (ADAA) has held a workshop with delegates from the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA). The Board is primarily responsible for developing international standards of ethics and independence for professional accountants and independent auditors.

The workshop focused on recent enhancements to international independence standards by the IESBA on services other than insurance, fees and the definition of public interest entities and the implementation of these developments. . In addition, delegates from both sides agreed to continue cooperative and collaborative efforts.

The meeting covered topics under a variety of topics, including an overview of the IESBA code, sustainability reporting and assurance, development of regulations and standards, and featured an open discussion on the development of a work plan for areas of collaboration.

Speaking at the closing of the event, the Acting Head of Audit Sector, Wael Abdul Qader, said that this type of workshop helps enlighten both parties on the need to stay well informed of constant developments in the profession both globally and locally, saying, “Through a collaborative workshop like this, we aim to contribute to and influence the global efforts of the standards process, which supports the ADAA’s mission to elevating the quality of auditing in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”

Caroline Lee, Vice President of the IESBA, said that the IESBA is devoting considerable effort to working with jurisdictions towards the adoption of the IESBA Code, as it promotes standards of ethics and high-quality and consistent independence for professional accountants in all regions of the world.

She said, “We appreciate the opportunity to share the latest IESBA developments in standards setting and look forward to continuing our collaboration with the ADAA.”
