Elementary school classmates taught crucial life lessons through a first aid workshop

LOCKING Stumps Community Primary in Warrington was recently selected to receive a free first aid workshop, as part of a program from Mini First Aid and Savlon.

Savlon – the UK’s No.1 antiseptic cream* – has teamed up with Mini First Aid to run lifesaving first aid workshops for children.

The workshop taught the children essential life skills, from what happens to their body if they were injured and how they would be treated by an adult, to understanding the basic first aid knowledge needed in the event of an accident. emergency.
Classmates at Locking Stumps Community Elementary School enjoyed their first aid workshop, courtesy of Mini First Aid and its partner, Savlon®. Mini First Aid is the UK’s largest specialist pediatric first aid training company, having first appeared on Dragons’ Den and secured investment from Sara Davies MBE, the initiative successfully provides first years with workshops and a award-winning first aid training. The courses are certified by the First Aid Industry Body, First Aid Association and Federation of First Aid Training Organizations, while meeting the 2020 National Curriculum requirements.

Emma Collins, Deputy Head of Locking Stumps Community Primary School, said: ‘We are delighted to have had this opportunity. The session was so carefully thought out, insightful and informative and it was great for the kids to engage in an experience like this outside of their regular classroom activities.
“It was lovely to see the children’s confidence and skills grow throughout the session and it left them with a great sense of independence and reassurance that they know how to act in a first aid emergency. .”
The children were shown how to deal with bumps, burns, breaks, bleeding, how to perform CPR and how to deal with choking. The content of the Mini First Aid course has been carefully developed in partnership with school psychologists, teachers and first aid industry bodies, and all of its trainers are experienced in working with children as young as three years old. At the end of the workshops, the children received a certificate and a booklet to take home.

Founded in 2014 by mum-of-six Kate Ball, Mini First Aid was a response to the lack of early childhood-focused, child-friendly first aid courses available for adults and children. The workshops are extremely beneficial for children, while reassuring parents and teachers that their children are equipped with the right tools and techniques needed to stay as safe as possible.
