JAMMU, 15th Feb: Dr. TR Raina, Former Head Professor of Blood Transfusion Department, Government Medical College Jammu and Former Program Director, Advanced Yoga Center Government Medical College Jammu conducted a three day workshop at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jammu on the theme “Holistic Health, Science of Stress and its Management through Yogic Lifestyle”
During the first day presentation which was attended by all faculty members of the institute including Dr. Shakti Kumar Gupta, Director of the Institute and Lt. Col. Prabhat Sharma, Director Dy of the Institute, Dr. Raina said it has been scientifically proven that 95 percent of human disorders are due to chronic stress and tension which are the result of rapid and erratic changes in lifestyle.
He further explained the concept of holistic health and educated the public on the scientific basis of yoga and yogic lifestyle which can lead to health, happiness, prosperity and harmony in society. Dr. Raina also gave hands-on demonstrations of some simple yogic techniques that can bring immediate peace of mind and relaxation to the body that was enjoyed by all.
During the second day of the workshop attended by all the officials and office staff of the institute, Dr. Raina, in addition to explaining the yogic lifestyle put forth for proper sitting posture, as most of the time they have to use computers while seated. postures during office hours. Some relevant yoga exercises were also presented to the public which can be used while working on computers to avoid certain sedentary postural disorders.
The third day presentation was aimed at housekeeping staff and security personnel at the institute in which Dr Raina said that lifestyle modifications are not too difficult to follow as it is common belief, but are very simple daily routines like the importance of morning walk, good sleep, yogic ways of breathing and eating, simple energizing exercises and instilling the habits of helping others, etc.
