The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has entered into agreements to establish an automotive workshop and training school in Dogon Daji District of Tambuwal Local Government Area in Sokoto State.
Speaking at a ceremony at the Dogon Daji town hall on Thursday, NADDC Director General Mr Jelani Aliyu said the idea was to fully involve young people in car services and repairs.
He added that land has been acquired and compensation has been paid to landowners.
“What remains to be done is to start building the structures and then begin full operation immediately after completion.”
Jelani enjoined the youths across the local government area to engage in computer literacy so that they will have an easier time when absorbed.
He strongly recalled that Dogon Daji was known to have a considerable number of truck mechanics who acquired their skills since the 1970s, when a road construction company (Steven Group) was established there.
He assured that similar meaningful projects would be cited in the neighborhood to ensure rapid development of the lagging area.
Responding to District Chief of Dogon Daji, Alhaji Nasiru Shehu Umar thanked the General Manager for bringing development to the region, adding that “you are really showing that you are a son of the soil”.
