The popular Matter of Balance program is once again offered at the Fountain Hills Community Center.
Classes are designed to view falls as controllable. Participants set goals to increase activity and make changes to reduce the risk of falls at home. They also learn exercises to increase strength and balance.
This program is for seniors who worry about falls, who have experienced falls in the past, who limit their activities due to fall concerns, who want to improve their flexibility, balance and strength and who are aged 60 or over, ambulatory and able to solve problems. .
All courses are presented by doctoral students from health professions programs affiliated with the Arizona Coalition for Fall Prevention and sponsored by the School of Health Sciences at AT Still University in Mesa.
Classes are held every Friday, Jan. 14 through March 4, 10 a.m. to noon (except Friday, Feb. 25) at the Fountain Hills Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana Drive. Participants must register and attend all classes. Pre-registration is compulsory and places are limited. The course is free for community center members or $ 5 for non-members.
