5-day workshop for creating a glossary for technical terminology concluded at GNDU

Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Dy. The coordinator of the 5-day workshop for creating a glossary for technical terminology said that in this workshop, more than 10,000 technical words of engineering terminology were developed in the Punjabi language. With the conclusion of this workshop, the target of creating a total of 55,000 technical words of engineering terminology in Punjabi has been successfully achieved, till date.

This third 5-day workshop for creating a Glossary of Technical Terminology was held at the School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University under the able leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, in collaboration with the Scientific and Technical Terminology Commission (CSTT), Ministry of Education, Govt. from India.

Today at the farewell session, Professor (Dr.) Anish Dua, Dean of Student Welfare was the main guest. Prof. Dua in his speech gave an insight into the emergence of India in the world as a leading nation in the field of science and technology. Furthermore, it has created an image of India as the future tech hub for the world to follow by the end of this decade.

In the context of NEP-2020, the role of regional languages ​​in the proliferation of science and technology has been highlighted with references. Shalindra Singh of CSTT, New Delhi. Dr. Manjinder Singh highlighted the achievements of this workshop.

Subject matter experts and linguists from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Central Bathinda University, Punjabi Patiala University and NIT Jalandhar participated in this workshop to achieve the objectives of creating a glossary significant. Dr. Ashok Selwatkar presented the achievements of the commission. He thanked the GNDU Vice-Chancellor for allowing CSTT to organize this workshop.

Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Dy. The coordinator said that the next phase of this project will include the critical review and launch of this glossary for technical courses. He presented a vote of thanks to the guests and participants for their honest and fully committed nation-building exercise in accomplishing this colossal task of creating a diverse glossary in the Punjabi language.
